Club costs and funding

Pontblyddyn Cricket Club is a non-profit making sports club that relies on membership subscriptions, bar takings and any support from sponsors or generosity of members and friends for it's income.

The club constitution states: "The Income and Property of the Club shall be applied solely towards promoting the club’s objectives as set forth in this constitution and no portion thereof shall be paid or transferred, directly or indirectly, to members of the club".  

Where the money goes:

The cricket ground - maintenance of the wicket, outfield and surrounding area - seed, fertilizer, mowers, roller, strimmer, fuel etc. 

We are currently  looking into the repair / refurbishment / replacement of the all-weather wicket and training nets.  The estimates for these projects are in the region of £5000 and £10,000 respectively.  There are various options available to assist with the funding of these projects but all involve sustantial financial input from club funds.

The clubhouse - electric, heating oil, water, licensing costs (alcohol, music tv etc.), cleaning and general building maintenance. 

Cricket equipment - training equipment, sightscreens, covers, nets - all require maintenance on a regular basis.  Match balls - cricket balls as specified by the league cost can cost up to £800 a season.

We are therefore always looking for fund raising ideas, so if anyone has any suggestions please let us know.

How we try to raise funds:

The clubs main form of income is from membership subscriptions, followed by bar profit, but these alone do not cover the costs.  We rely heavily on the generous support of our members and sponsors.  Do you know anyone who may be interested in supporting us by having?

•    An advertising board at the club - £200 (year 1 includes sign manufacture) £150 per year thereafter,  includes listing on club website pages.  The initial £50 set up charge will be waived if it is agreed to pay for 3 years (payment to be made annually).

•    Sponsoring a match ball for each home game (any team) - the cost is £25 - the sponsor will have their details on the match ball sponsor board, website and other match associated media.

The club also runs a 100 club at a cost of £2 per month (£24 per year) with monthly prizes from £5 to £100  (more information)
